diabetestools.org is a project that aims to create a software system that will aid diabetics in managing their diabetes. It will provide the diabetic with a diary and synchronisation tool for blood glucose meters as well as an application that enable easy communication with the diabetic's health care team. The health care team will in turn be offered an application whereby they can easily see all data and communication in a patient centric way.
All data submitted to the system will enable researchers to get access to a wealth of statistical data that have never before been accessible. The integrity is ensured since the data is what each diabetic is relying on for their daily care. All data accessible by research will be kept strictly anonymous, I.E. there will be no way for anyone to find out what records belongs to which user.
For more in depth information on the ideas you can read the high level project brief. It is available as ether pdf or html.
I am currently looking for funding. The amount of work needed for this project will require me to work full time, therefore I can't get any other income during the projects life time. As soon as I have found sponsors I will start outlining all tasks and address needs for additional developers and other support. I am hoping that I will be able to raise enough funds to be able to pay for some of the time spent on the project.
If you have any comments or are interested in seeing any specific features, or perhaps spend some time developing parts of it then please either contact me at diabetestools at users.sourceforge.net or post in the forums on the project site (link further down).
For news and forums, and any other info that eventually will emerge go to the projects sorceforge page. Currently there isn't much info there but I try to post up news as soon as I have any.
